Is a supervisor present during collection from my address?

Yes. Every collection is managed by a senior crew member who oversees the packing, wrapping, and loading process. This person is the contact point for any question or instruction during the collection.

For full villa and large apartment clearances, the same person coordinates the loading sequence to ensure furniture arrives at the facility in the correct order for unit organisation. The supervisor's contact number is confirmed before the collection date.

Can I do my own packing before the crew arrives?

Yes. Many customers pre-pack boxes for clothing, books, and personal items and ask the crew to handle furniture, appliances, and fragile pieces. If you pack your own boxes, use sturdy double-walled boxes — not supermarket packaging — and label each box with contents and destination room.

If a customer-packed box arrives at the facility damaged or with contents affected, we are not liable for the contents where packing method contributed to the damage. The team will flag any boxes that appear fragile-risk before loading if given the opportunity to review.

Will E Self Storage UAE disassemble and reassemble my furniture?

What happens if something is damaged during collection, transport, or storage?

If damage occurs during a collection or transport handled by E Self Storage UAE, the claim is assessed against the documented pre-collection condition record — photographs of significant items taken at the start of every collection.

The process: the customer identifies the damaged item at retrieval, the condition record is reviewed, and the claim is processed through the written insurance policy. Items damaged due to inadequate packaging in customer-packed boxes are not covered — this is disclosed at booking for customers who choose to pack their own items.

Does E Self Storage UAE provide an inventory list of items collected?

Yes. Every collection produces an intake record documenting the items collected, their condition at intake, and the unit they are assigned to. High-value items are individually documented with photographs. Standard household items are listed by category and approximate count.

How do I retrieve specific items without clearing the whole unit?

For items in managed or box storage where the facility team retrieves on request, 24–48 hours notice allows the team to locate and prepare the item before your arrival. Are the units genuinely climate-controlled — and what does that mean specifically?

Every individual unit is maintained at 18–24°C with humidity managed at 40–55% RH — continuously, including August. "Genuinely climate-controlled" means the air conditioning runs on the unit interior, not the shared corridor outside it, and does not switch off outside business hours or on Fridays.

The 18–24°C / 40–55% RH specification is the archival standard — the band that prevents leather cracking, wood warping, electronics degradation, document yellowing, and fabric mould growth in Dubai's summer conditions. This specification is confirmed in writing in the booking communication before any commitment is made.

How secure is the facility?

Security operates on 4 layers:

Can I access my unit at any hour?

Yes. The facility is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including Fridays and all UAE public holidays. No advance notice required. No appointment needed. Customers visiting at 3AM or at 8PM on a Friday receive the same access as customers visiting at 10AM on a Monday.

The on-site security team is present during all access hours. The only requirement is the key to your own unit — which only you hold.

What is the minimum storage period?

One month. After the first month, the arrangement is month-to-month with one month's notice to close. There is no penalty for closing after month one beyond the one-month notice period.

Customers who know they need storage for at least 12 months benefit from the annual plan, which includes 1 free month confirmed upfront — making the effective monthly cost lower than the month-to-month rate.

Can I increase or decrease my unit size during the arrangement?

Yes. If your volume grows, a larger unit or additional unit is added from the following month. If your volume reduces, a smaller unit at a lower monthly rate is confirmed. Size changes are agreed via WhatsApp and reflected in the following month's invoice.

No administrative fee applies for size changes. The only constraint is availability of the next size up or down — confirm the change as early as possible if timing matters.

International relocation involves the collection, packing, and export of household contents from a UAE address to a destination country — covering origin handling, export documentation, port coordination at Jebel Ali, sea or air freight, destination customs clearance, and final delivery.

We coordinate the Dubai origin phase — collection, packing, and export documentation — in partnership with an established international freight network. The scope covered directly by us and the scope covered by international freight partners is confirmed clearly at the quoting stage.

How does customs clearance work for international shipments from Dubai?

Export from Dubai requires a packing list, a commercial invoice for insured value, and — for personal household goods — a transfer of residence letter if applicable to the destination country's import regulations. The packing list is produced from the intake inventory completed during collection.

Import documentation requirements vary by destination — UK, Australia, Canada, and EU each have different requirements. Destination clearance is managed by the receiving freight partner. We confirm which documents we produce at origin and which are the customer's responsibility before the shipment is confirmed.

How long does an international shipment from Dubai take to arrive?

Transit times depend on destination and method:

  • Sea freight to UK — approx. 25–35 days from departure
  • Sea freight to Australia — 30–45 days
  • Sea freight to USA — 35–50 days
  • Air freight — 5–10 days for most destinations, at significantly higher cost per cubic metre

These are transit times from port departure — add 7–14 days for collection, packing, export processing at Jebel Ali, and customs clearance at destination.

Can you store my belongings while I wait for the international shipment to be arranged?

Yes. Storage before international shipment is one of our most common arrangements. Items are collected from the Dubai property, stored in a climate-controlled unit at 18–24°C for the duration needed to finalise the shipment, and then transferred to the export packaging team for containerisation.

This is a single-collection arrangement — items are collected once and handled from there without the customer needing to coordinate a second move. The storage period before shipment — typically 2–6 weeks — is billed at the monthly rate on a pro-rated basis for shorter periods.

Collection from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain is available — confirm the address and required date when booking so vehicle allocation is planned in advance.

Do you serve businesses in Dubai free zones?

Yes. Business storage for DMCC, DIFC, JAFZA, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Airport Free Zone, and all other UAE free zones is available. Business storage arrangements include monthly invoices with 5% VAT, compliant with free zone financial record requirements.

For JAFZA-licensed businesses storing goods subject to customs control, confirm the goods category at booking — certain categories require specific documentation before storage at a non-JAFZA facility. Most business document storage, office equipment, and general inventory storage involves no free zone-specific restrictions.

Do you provide collection and delivery — or is self-delivery required?

Collection from any UAE address and delivery back to any UAE address are both available — neither self-delivery nor self-retrieval is required. Collection is coordinated to match the customer's schedule — morning, afternoon, or a specific time window.

For summer departure customers who need items delivered to their property on return to the UAE, the delivery date is confirmed by WhatsApp from abroad and the team executes on arrival day.

Does the community or building access process affect collection timing?

In some cases, yes. Gated villa communities — Arabian Ranches, The Springs, Dubai Hills Estate, Emaar and DAMAC communities — require a vehicle entry permit before a service vehicle enters. We submit the vehicle registration details required for the gate pass when the collection is booked. Most communities process passes within 24 hours.

Buildings with service lift requirements — high-rise towers in Dubai Marina, JLT, Business Bay, and Downtown — require the service lift to be booked with building management 24–48 hours in advance. We handle both the community permit and service lift booking. The customer does not need to coordinate these separately.
